UNIVERSITY CLINIC FOR NEUROSURGERY

Skull Base Surgery / Neuroendoscopy

Skull-based surgery differs significantly from other neurosurgical procedures on the brain, as there is a direct and sometimes complex connection to critical neurovascular structures (vessels, cranial nerves, and brain stem). Various types of skull base tumors and vascular anomalies are among the most common diseases here.

These procedures are performed in specialized university hospitals by experienced surgeons/interventionalists, often in an interdisciplinary setting.

The treatment strategy depends on many factors, such as the type of tumor, size, extent, and location, as well as on many clinical and neurological factors.

So-called minimally invasive techniques are used. Circumscribed keyhole approaches and the use of neuroendoscopy as the sole or supplementary method are regularly used here.
